The Covid-19 vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca stops 70% of people from developing Covid symptoms, a large-scale trial shows.
As 70% is a good rate, other vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna show 95% protection.
However Oxford’s vaccine is cheaper then other others and also easier to store which will make it easier to distribute around the world.
Further data shows that perfecting the vaccine can scale up the effectiveness of the vaccine to 90%.
Malta’s government has already done a deal with Oxford for a number of doses while the UK’s government had ordered 100 million doses.
