73 turtles have hatched in total at Ramla Bay Gozo. 62 of which hatched during the night between Saturday and Sunday and the remaining 11 hatched during night between Sunday and Monday.
The loggerhead turtle laid the eggs last May, and were being looked after and guarded 24/7 since then by volunteers. A net was set up both on and under the sand around the spot where the eggs were laid to protect it from mice, crabs and keep people from getting too close.
As these turtle eggs at Ramla Bay have hatched successfully, there are sill 2 other places where turtles have laid eggs and are still to hatch. These are Golden Bay and Ghadira Bay.
