Nature Trust Malta has announced earlier this morning that 62 turtle eggs have hatched at Ramla Bay.

The eggs started to hatch at 1:50am. 62 eggs have hatched as of 6:45am.

The eggs had been laid last May, and were being guarded and taken care of 24/7 since then by volunteers.

The newly hatched loggerhead turtles are extremely sensitive to light, and so infrared light was used during the hatching as it is less effective on them.

As these eggs at Ramla Bay have successfully hatches, turtle eggs laid at Golden Bay and Ghadira Bay are still to hatch.
